Hello, Meet Kira
I am a dedicated advocate for reproductive justice with experience in community outreach, partnership building, and training. As a former Public Affairs Manager with Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest, I successfully led campaigns on issues like menstrual equity and doula program funding through strategic partnerships, especially with BIPOC-led organizations. My background in grassroots organizing, including my role as External Relations Director for the UC Coalition for Reproductive Justice, helped shape my passion for addressing reproductive health disparities and advocating for equitable healthcare policies at both university and state levels.
My Story
I am deeply passionate about advancing reproductive justice, a commitment shaped by my education, professional background, and lived experiences. My dedication to this cause has been at the forefront of my work, including my time as the Public Affairs Manager with Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest. In that role, I led efforts to build strategic partnerships and deliver impactful reproductive justice training, specifically focusing on BIPOC-led organizations that serve diverse communities. Through purposeful community outreach, I cultivated relationships that resulted in powerful issue-based campaigns, including initiatives like menstrual equity on high school campuses and securing long-term funding for doula programs in Riverside County.
Throughout my career, I have been committed to empowering communities by delivering hands-on training in reproductive health, advocacy, organizing, coalition building, and campaign management. I believe in an inclusive, interactive training approach that fosters open dialogue and engagement, ensuring that participants not only absorb the curriculum but also build meaningful connections with one another and the material.
My passion for reproductive justice began during my undergraduate years, where I immersed myself in grassroots organizing. As the External Relations Director of the UC Coalition for Reproductive Justice, I worked closely with community members, student organizers, and legislative stakeholders to advocate for equitable reproductive healthcare across the University of California system. This grassroots movement, which grew to include universities across California, took our efforts to the California State Senate and Assembly, where we lobbied for transformative policies that address reproductive health disparities.
Today, I continue to dedicate my work to advancing reproductive health and justice, always striving to ensure that all communities, particularly those most marginalized, have equitable access to the care and resources they deserve.
